Why not come along to one of our great junior club sessions on a Saturday morning (9.30am to 11) at The Downside Centre, Druid Street SE1 2EZ.

All equipment is provided and the club is open to everyone from 8 to 16yrs - and we're very happy for parents to shoot alongside their child.

Please note that our age limits are based on the anticipated height of the child - we often have 'littles' being smuggled in!

Please discuss with us if your child is either 8+ but very small for their age or under 8 but tall / has good concentration and dexterity. The reason we have an age limit is because we use 'proper' sports equipment, which is a very different experience from toy archery sets. Our equipment, and the style of our sessions, is about fun (for sure!) but it's also about developing co-ordination, concentration and progressing as an archer. With our more than 10 yrs of experience delivering sessions we know that 6 and 7 yr olds can really struggle to succeed. This means that if you do have a younger child who has huge enthusiasm for archery approaching this as something to wait for (and maybe a huge treat for their 8th birthday) is a much kinder approach, with a likely result of a lot more overall happiness than getting them in before they're ready.

Please do ask us about height guidelines and any behavioural / concentration / mobility issues that your child has. We are as inclusive as it is possible to be - but sometimes we need a week or two to find extra support for kids with special needs.

The small print!
You can have any combination of numbers for adults and children but adults MUST have an accompanying child. The session will definitely have a junior focus with archery fun and games but we will be able to progress adults towards longer distances if you keep coming.

We also now run the FITA "Feathers & Arrows" progression scheme for juniors with one or two 'badge' shoots each term. These badge shoots are open to junior club members. Club membership costs £35 for one year and includes Feather and Arrow badges and certificates, plus discounts for shooting fees. Where possible we will give priority to club members for any remaining spaces on busy weeks.

You can come on an ad hoc basis by buying single sessions, or we have block sessions available for club members for those who'd like to come every week and see their shooting skills improve (please click here for full terms and conditions for block bookings). We use proper sports archery equipment (in adult and junior sizes) and safety is our priority. All of our junior instructors have current CRB checks. We have comprehensive risk assessments in place for the activity following the Archery GB recommended format and £5 million public liability insurance. We are more than happy to email over copies of these for your peace of mind.

The local area! aka where to get a coffee while they shoot!
If you're not joining in with the shooting (and of course there's no pressure on you to do so) parents are welcome to watch during the sessions or you might want to take the opportunity to explore the Maltby Street Market which is right on our doorstep. Tanner Street and slightly further along Druid Street (away from London Bridge) has a lovely local branch of the Monmouth Coffee Company, a couple of antiques markets and some fabulous artisan bread, cheese and fresh produce.
